Example Mobility Internships

Electrical Systems

Electrical Systems Engineering Intern

The intern will support wiring, battery systems, low-voltage integration, diagnostics, and general prototype development in a hands-on engineering environment. This role is suited for someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and working directly with hardware systems while collaborating closely with engineers on real-world projects.

Software Development

Software Development Intern

The intern will support software development for prototype systems, contributing to the design, implementation, and testing of applications that interface with hardware, multiple systems and emerging technologies.

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering Intern

Field Deployment Technician Intern to support summer field operations and deployments. Ideal for a Civil Engineering student who enjoys outdoor work, hands-on problem-solving, and assisting with robotic system setup and maintenance.
Responsibilities include site preparation, equipment setup, tether management, deployment logistics, and general field support.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering Design Intern

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team and support the design and integration of complex mechanical systems. This is a hands-on role where you will contribute to real projects from day one, working alongside experienced engineers on structural design, system integration, and custom module development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the mechanical design of structural frames, cabinetry, and custom modules using CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Support the design and development of vehicle upfits and specialty platform builds from concept through completion.
  • Participate in system-level integration reviews across electrical, mechanical, and structural subsystems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technician teams to ensure project milestones are met on schedule.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and design specifications.
  • Assist in design validation, testing, and iteration based on feedback from the field.
  • Identify design challenges and contribute solutions in team design reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software; Siemens NX experience is a strong plus.
